Valaris Ltd is an offshore contract drilling company. The company provides offshore contract drilling services to the international oil and gas industry with operations in almost every offshore market across six continents. Its business consists of four operating segments: Floaters, which includes drillships and semisubmersible rigs; Jackups; ARO; and Other, which consists of management services on rigs owned by third parties. It generates the majority of its revenue from the Floaters segment.

$RIG maybe I’m over thinking, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that $RIG and $VAL are both moving the same way, on the same day, with ~6% gains. $RIG has been lagging for some time.. I think the big merger news is finally coming.
View on StockTwits ↗$RIG the only valid bearish case for RIG, profitability, is becoming more irrelevant as the company expands its backlog, which is currently in excess of $7B, and oil prices keep ticking up, whereas, there is no clear sign of it slowing down. The potential merger talks with $VAL while not entirely necessary, would create a top-tier synergistic merger that would optimize operations by expanding capabilities, and reducing OPEX, essentialy delivering a significantly higher EPS allowing capital not just for an attractive dividend payout to shareholders, but also shift the valuation significantly.

$RIG $TDW $NE $VAL Iran peace deal really has little to do with the inevitable buildout of offshore. If anything the iran war solidified the need to diversify oil sources. Offshore will be a booming industry for the next few years at a minimum as buildout ramps up for both geopolitical reasons and high energy demand. Still the best way to trade energy. Single digit fwd PE.
