A merger between Italian firm SGS Microelettronica and the nonmilitary business of Thomson Semiconducteurs in France formed STMicroelectronics in 1987. STMicroelectronics is a leader in a variety of semiconductor products, including analog chips, discrete power semiconductors, microcontrollers, and sensors. It is an especially prominent chip supplier to the industrial and automotive industries.

@appayip Have your feet wet with a few hundred now at 50’ish, Amd average down or up depending on the outcome of the elections. I personally think $STM is somewhat shielded from the US action. STMPA (PA for Paris), and STMMI (MI for Milano) governs the price here. Aka, EU action like raising interest rates today has bigger influence on STM’s course than US events…

They already signed up w/$SPCE France just announced to spearheading Europe’s new push to play catch up with the rest of the world by upping their budget accordingly big time. Brussels will follow. STM is into photonics (!), optical connectivity (aka Edge AI), and well positioned in EV’s (silicon carbide), self driving cars (smart sensors) which fly once the flat earthers & rubes left the building/have died out. Only concern is dumba$$ inside politics as STM is owned by both the Dutch and Italy - and that seems to be aa temperamental relationsship.
