Ant International is partnering with Visa and Mastercard to develop common standards for payments made by AI agents, betting on rapid growth in “agentic commerce.” The companies cited McKinsey projections that AI agents could handle $3 trillion to $5 trillion in global consumer commerce by 2030. The collaboration will focus on verifying AI agents, linking them to legitimate entities, monitoring their behavior and enabling interoperability across different payment networks. Ant said a common “Know Your Agent” framework could allow an agent registered with one payment system to work across others without repeated registration. The initiative aims to address security concerns, including AI hallucinations and unauthorized transactions, as agents increasingly make purchases on behalf of consumers. Digital wallets already represented 56% of global e-commerce value and 33% of point-of-sale spending in 2025, according to Worldpay. $V $MA
