Royal Caribbean is the world's second-largest cruise company by revenues, operating 71 ships across five global and partner brands in the cruise vacation industry. Brands the company operates include Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea. The company also has a 50% investment in a joint venture that operates TUI Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The selection of brands in the portfolio allows Royal to compete on the basis of innovation, quality of ships and service, variety of itineraries, choice of destinations, and price. The company completed the divestiture of its Azamara brand in 2021, plans to launch its new Celebrity River Cruise brand in 2027, and is set to operate eight private destination locations by 2028.

$RCL $CCL $NCLH this is a coordinated short attack. Look at past history, the similar coordinated raid took place in 2018, 2022, 2023, April 2025 and May 2026. Each time, short algos use certain headlines “oil shock”, “recession”, “demand-weakness” to dump the entire class of travel stocks. That’s why you see RCL, VIK and NCLH had identical charts despite drastically different fundamentals. Many hedge funds also have a “long oil, short consumer stocks” strategy. This exacerbates the short term volatility. But the history tells us that fundamentals will always prevail. So far, not a single institution suggests high oil prices will materially deteriorate any of the companies, even NCLH. There are some skeptics about Carribean oversupply, but it is a known problem. Usually after 6-8 weeks of relentless selling, momentum will diminish, and fundamentals will eventually take control. This happened each time when a whole class of travel stocks faced universal selling pressure.

I sold all my $CGDV and moved into $AVLV. $CGDV’s process feels unpredictable. Its top holding was Royal Caribbean ($RCL), which makes no sense to me in a high‑oil‑price environment. Since $CGDV is an active ETF with a higher fee, it should’ve adjusted that position quickly — yet I have no visibility into how they pick stocks, and recent performance has been weak. $AVLV gives me a clearer, rules‑based value approach with better downside protection, solid behavior in bull markets, lower fees, and more transparent, diversified holdings.

Just look at the hedge funds who went bankrupt in the past few months because they were so confident that software was to be replaced by AI. All of them were once having their glorified times in April when no one wanted software stocks. Look at them now.
