About 70 people were evacuated as the fire was put out. The drone breached NATO airspace while Russia was carrying out an overnight attack on Ukrainian infrastructure along the Danube River. The drone was likely hit while over Ukraine, apparently by Ukraine's air defences which altered its trajectory Romania President Dan to expel the Russian consul in the Black Sea port of Constanța & shut down the consulate Romania's defence ministry says that since the start of the war in Ukraine, drone fragments have been found on Romanian territory on 47 separate occasions, 12 of them this year alone. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X: "Russia's war of aggression has crossed yet another line" UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the drone hit was a "serious violation" of Nato airspace, and added that the UK stood "shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, with Romania, and with all our Nato allies in the face of continued Russian aggression" Other European politicians also condemned the incident, including the French foreign minister, the US Ambassador to Nato and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Nato's secretary general said the Galati incident "showed yet again that the implications of [Russia's] illegal war of aggression don't stop at the border" Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chair of the Security Council of Russia & the country’s former president, cautioned the EU to be “vigilant” amid the “war with Russia” that Europe has entered “Citizens of EU countries, You should realize your authorities have unilaterally entered into a war with Russia. So be vigilant & don’t be surprised by anything. The peaceful sleep is over. But you know who to ask why.” $ITA $WAR $SHLD $GLD $FEZ

View on StockTwits ↗EU is planning the biggest relaxation of its rules on corporate mergers in decades as Europe faces increasing pressure to build global champions capable of taking on US & China rivals The European Commission will give greater weight to “innovation, investment & resilience of the internal market”, when deciding whether to sign off on deals \The draft guidelines maintain the core objective of preserving effective competition. But they note that “the growth & scaling-up of firms . . . so as to reach the necessary size to compete globally, can be pro-competitive”, arguing this can have a “positive impact” on the EU Noting a changed geopolitical context, the document argues the economy has also “shifted towards more innovation-heavy sectors where both scale and innovation are critical to compete” $FEZ $BCS $NOK $TTE $IEUS
