$OUST I have a question... I just discovered the $VLDR ticker minutes ago. On the page it says "Velodyne Lidar Inc". Can anybody explain this to me, what is this about?
View on StockTwits ↗$AMZN Better switch to $OUST sensors. Back in the days they discarded $VLDR ones for HESAI! What a SHAME! Bhooo 👎
View on StockTwits ↗$AMZN was a $VLDR (merged then with$OUST) customer but then decided to buy chinese LIDARs from HESAI... 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Imagine now they wants $OUST stereo vision 🤭🤭
View on StockTwits ↗@lidarvision Thanks for your feedback. $OUST sells most of their products in the industrial, drones, robotics, and infrastructure sectors; that one is true. But they do compete in the auto market. They just think it's unpredictable when this will hit production, and their strategy is to build a viable business simultaneously. For now, this hypothesis seems 100.00% on the money, as all the other companies besides $HSAI go bankrupt, heavily dilute and/or are very dependent on development spot buys. They do have the technology to address auto, and they have several development wins in the autonomous taxi space. They say some are moving towards production very soon. They have solid-state ADAS in development. While other companies are “faster” here, nobody was able to produce a working product, and nobody could do it on even positive gross margins. So I argue they are not even behind. They are not based on $VLDR technology; that's nonsense, they still sell & support those, but nothing more.
View on StockTwits ↗$OUST $VLDR sold this way too early. congrats yall
View on StockTwits ↗Interestingly, I think even $OUST and $VLDR before the merger thought that $LAZR was on track to win the big money of the space from autonomous driving TAM, that's why they diversified their approach into smaller markets. They also (and that was openly communicated by both and post merger) thought that this use case it just taking too long, and you can't reach it. Turns out they might be entirely correct with their strategy that is communicated for years now and the market likes that.
