Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile is a Chilean commodities producer with significant operations in lithium (primarily used in batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems), specialty and standard potassium fertilizers, iodine (primarily used in X-ray contrast media), and solar salts. The company extracts these materials through its high-quality salt brine deposits and caliche ore. SQM also sells lithium concentrate from a joint venture hard rock lithium project in Australia and expanding its lithium refining assets in China.

@Strightflush imho this has little to do with the company itself… compare $SGML chart with $LAC and $LAR for instance, (same industry/size). From a funds flow perspective, these stocks are all following the same price action/structure, despite that neither LAC nor LAR have the alleged trust/PR issues you raise. Only the big ones $SQM $ALB are reclaiming the 50ma. Market will simply not pay any attention to this niche/theme until larger peers start to take off. Only then volume will come from retail traders chasing a breakout, provided price manages to break the 50ma. Regarding big money, these $1 bn mkt cap stocks are in no man’s land from an institutional standpoint. Reclaiming the 50ma is the first step, and the single catalyst that can now trigger such a move is a sharp move up in lithium prices. Until then, will see just sideways drift.
