View on StockTwits ↗$IMXI Looks like the Western Union deal just finally happened after hours! Wow.
View on StockTwits ↗$IMXI Every state except one state has approved the Western Union purchase of this company. Stockholders approved the takeover of this company by Western Union. Now we are waiting on New York financial people to approve it. The mayor that was trying to sway them looks bad because of his recent comment about immigration and that Jewish guy being arrested. I expect the financial regulators to be more like the other financial people in the states that approved it. Avoiding being swayed by the New York mayor's talk about how the deal may make it more expensive for immigrants to transact money. This deal will help our American citizens. Including me.

View on StockTwits ↗$IMXI Combined WU <> IMXI new entity will hold ~25.7% of US-LAC remittances — & Remitly alone is already at 25.8%. This isn’t a monopoly. Commi Mamdani can write letters; he can’t write NYDFS decisions. The DOJ already cleared this deal. The current large spread is not pricing in a deal collapse — it’s paying you to wait through a single-state review in a corridor full of competitors. Timeline risk, not deal-break risk. If NYDFS slow-walks its review past the August 10 outside date, the agreement automatically extends to November 10, 2026. The deal doesn’t break — it just takes longer. The $27.3M reverse break fee from Western Union keeps them honest about not walking away. ALL states with large immigrant communities and active consumer protection agencies have approved the deal. It would be legally challengeable and precedent-setting for NYDFS to unilaterally block a transaction that 51 other regulators including the DOJ have cleared. August 10th, tomorrow, should be very interesting.
