View on StockTwits ↗JPMorgan Global Composite Output Index – produced by JPMorgan & IHS Markit in association with ISM & IFPSM: 54.3 in Dec [growth but slower rate]. Almost all of the nations covered registered economic growth during December. Signs of slowdown were widespread, however, with only one of the 12 countries where output rose (China) seeing a faster rate of expansion. The US recorded the strongest performance overall, followed by Ireland and then India. Germany was the only country to register contraction, ending a 17-month sequence of growth. $SPY $FXI $INDY $EWG $EIRL
View on StockTwits ↗Rumor: Ireland Govt to sign on to the OECD global corporate tax agreement. Ireland was initially one of nine countries to refuse to operate a 15% corporate tax rate. Conditions to agree were that there would not be any for further tax rate rises & "at least" was removed from the phrase "at least 15%". Ireland has a corporation tax rate of 12.5%, which is one of the lowest in the developed world. Ireland argued that small countries should be able to continue to use the low-tax rate as a tool to attract foreign inward investment. Ireland had attracted an estimated 1,000 multinationals in the tech, finance and pharma sectors on the back of its corporate tax policy w/ just 100 companies accounting for almost 80% of the tax revenue. About 32% of all jobs in the Irish Republic in 2020 were in multinationals, and those employees contributed 49% of all employment taxes compared with 27% and 44% respectively in 2019. $XLK $EIRL $QQQ
