In the United States and Europe, Braskem's focus is on the manufacturing and distribution of polypropylene (PP) throughout the U.S. and Germany. The Mexico segment is dedicated to the production and sale of ethylene, high-density polyethylene, and low-density polyethylene within Mexico. Globally, Braskem is actively engaged in the manufacturing, sale, import, and export of a diverse portfolio of chemicals, petrochemicals, and fuels. The company also generates, supplies, and sells various utilities, including steam, water, compressed air, and industrial gases, in addition to providing industrial services. Founded in 1972, the company initially operated as Copene Petroquímica do Nordeste S.A., changing its name to Braskem S.A. in 2002. Its headquarters are situated in Camaçari, Brazil.
