$DLAKY Airline investors: what am I missing? Everyone seems focused on strong summer bookings, full planes and healthy demand. I agree demand is holding up surprisingly well. But isn't the real issue margins? My concern is that we may be entering a period of: Persistently high jet fuel prices Elevated crack spreads Higher operating costs across the industry Limited ability to pass 100% of those costs on to customers Increasing pressure on Q3, Q4 and potentially 2027 earnings Even heavily hedged airlines are reporting significantly higher fuel bills. Hedging appears to be cushioning the blow, not eliminating it. To be clear, I'm NOT expecting a collapse in air travel. People still want to travel and bookings remain strong. My question is: If fuel remains elevated for the rest of the year, how do airline margins avoid getting squeezed? Is the market underestimating the risk of earnings revisions over the next few quarters? Interested to hear both bull and bear $WIZZ.L $DLAKY $AAL $UAL $DAL $EJTTF

View on StockTwits ↗$WIZZ.L Wizz Air continues to struggle with engine problems. Maintenance work is grounding a large part of its fleet. Wizz Air has lowered its annual profit forecast and reported a 44 percent drop in operating profit in the first quarter of the financial year. -20% today!
View on StockTwits ↗@ijs2023 @Butterflyboy airlines are a tough business for profitability. Bad earnings on $RYAAY, and it and $WIZZ.L tanked today Latam (and COPA) weren't exactly cheap fare airlines . Competition from newer airlines in the region and couple of them had financial troubles. Whenever it gets this (proper) re-listing , then we can see market impact. I'll wait. Currencies in larger markets (Chile, Brazil, Arg), weak vs USD , another factor as fewer USD needed to reach stock price in whatever local currency.

View on StockTwits ↗U.K. based low-cost airline group $ESYJY tumbled -10.2% & was the worst performer on the European STOXX 600, after it rejected a takeover approach from $WIZZ.L opting instead to raise $1.7B from shareholders & attempt to go it alone, in an industry struggling to recover from the coronavirus pandemic. However, the company is refusing to rule out a future M&A, indicating it might well entertain a future merger or acquisition.
